For once, I don’t need Leap Day or a “normal” length month to hit a few milestones in February.
On my short run yesterday I hit 100 running miles for the month. It’s the earliest I’ve ever hit triple digits in a calendar year, and only the second time hitting 100 miles in a month in the first half of a year. The other time was April 2010.
What’s important to me is these have been high quality miles, as well as miles experimenting with different shoes and getting a dose of every type of weather condition possible. I didn’t even realize I was going to hit 100 miles for the month until I added my mileage up mid-week last week.
Another number-related milestone is passing 1,000 push-ups for the month. I’m redoing some of week 5 after struggling a bit at the end of last week, but all in all I continue to be happy with my progress in the 100 push-ups program. In addition to feeling stronger, I can see a difference in my arms.
My goal isn’t to get huge arms, but I do like the more toned look. I also like how it’s benefiting my running — it’s tough to explain, but I know that it’s helping.

Gonna bounce quarters off your pecs at Fitbloggin. Consider yourself warned.
I know you're being funny, but being a speaker at Fitbloggin' ismotivating me to get into better overall shape and not just focusingon running. Now I just have to eat better and keep working at it thissummer.
Congrats on the numbers!
I have the opposite feeling about February's lack of days, if there was just ONE more day to the month I would have had a 100 mile month.
Awesome job on the push ups!
I've had too many “what could have been” Februarys. I never intendedto set mileage marks this month, but it feels good to do it. Bigpicture, though, it's just part of my continuous effort to getstronger and faster — the mileage milestone is just a bonus.
Dude, nice numbers, way to go!
