* #runchat with me and Scott return on Twitter at 8 p.m. ET Sunday with an awesome giveaway from Hydrapak. If you’ve never taken part in #runchat, there’s no time like now to join in. From 8-9 p.m., we’ll ask running-related questions, you answer them, you chat with other runners about their answers — it’s really that simple.
For more information about what #runchat is, visit my #runchat page. If you have any question suggestions, send me a message on my Contact page. For information on the Hydrapak giveaway this week, visit Scott’s entry on his blog.
* After writing last night about how well running in the morning is going, I was faced with a challenge today: rain. It’s fitting I put a Forrest Gump clip with that post because I encountered some big ‘ol fat rain in the first mile or so of the run. Then, oddly enough, it just stopped. I ran without a watch for the second time this week and, just like Monday, got in exactly 4 miles. I seem to have a great sense of distance with running 4 miles.
* I’m considering entering a trail race this weekend. I honestly haven’t decided. I seem to like spontaneous things lately, but I just don’t know yet if I want to do this. I guess if I do it, some on the spontaneity is gone by mentioning it here, but it’s at the forefront of my mind right now, which I think is causing this bulleted post of a variety of things.
* I have started the 100 push-ups program for the umpteenth time. Since I’ve been doing a variety of push-ups for a while and did a few maxes between 30-35 push-ups last month, I started during week 3, level 2. After one day I realized that I was not doing nearly enough last month. So not hitting that goal I had of 50 consecutive push-ups is purely my fault. The first workout last night was great though with push-up sets of 12, 17, 13, 13, and a max of 22.
Is my goal now to do 100 consecutive push-ups? I’m not sure. This program is so tough, and I really want push-ups to be a cross training staple. The workouts in weeks 3 and 4 are ideal for that. For now, I’m just going to take the training program a day at a time and see how I feel in a couple of weeks when I do another test.

Keep going Forrest. I've attempted the 100 pushups challenge a few times too.
I think I need to rewatch Forest Gump, I don't remember a lot from it.
I say go for the Trail run, especially if it doesn't cost much, and the weather is nice.
Have fun with the pushups!
I've seen Forrest Gump probably 20 times or so, but it's been a while. Far and away my most favorite movie ever. I've probably used a clip on the blog 3-4 times, and used many quotes.
That's so awesome that you have nailed that 4 mile distance. I'm so in love with my Garmin that I find it VERY difficult to run watchless. I know I need to try, just to experience that freedom, but the engineer in me LOVES that quantitative data!
I would definitely DO the trail run! I don't do them too often but I have done several and it is always a positive experience. Plus, I find trail running breaks up the monotony of road running and earth feels completely different under your feet than pavement. It actually makes my legs feel good. I find I run a little slower during trail races, but I mostly do them for fun and to meet a different set of running friends, so I'm okay with that.
Good luck on the 100 Push Ups challenge! I have the iPhone app for it, but I have not started it yet. I need to work up the nerve and just do it!
I just re-started the 100 push ups app myself. I made it all the way thru doing girly-style push ups and now I'm trying from my toes. My initial set was only 8 That's so sad considering I got to the end only a couple weeks ago.
As for the trail run? I'd say if you like that sort of thing, go for it. Trail runs scare the bejeezus out of me. I'm suck a clutz that I'd probably trip over a rock and break myself.
I love the idea of watchless Mondays - I have loops for almost every distance I run (4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11) except the long runs. I don't necessarily need a watch, but the track athlete in me wants to see how I'm doing pace-wise. Maybe tomorrow I'll run on feel…
I say you do the trail race this weekend. You've been nailing some runs recently and it'd be fun to get out there and get the legs spinning. Racing's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.
